A classic.
This gorgeous bubble turban is by Lily Dache, from the Debs line, c. the 1960s. It's made of black wool felt, domed in a single piece, with a soft white textured vinyl (though it could be real leather, I believe it's faux) at the base, and a matching white bow in the front. This hat has a high dome, with no real brim at all; it's not really a cloche, but not quite a turban either. But it IS elegant!
Not familiar with Lily Dache? You should be! She was one of THE great milliners and hat designers of the 20th century, and her creations were owned and treasured by Hedy Lamar, Eleanor Roosevelt, Marlena Dietrich, and many, many others.
Condition: very nice. The only real issue I could find is that there is grosgrain backing on the vinyl; on the left side of the bow, the vinyl needs re-glued to the grosgrain (you can see this in photo 7), and in fact it was buy taped at one point underneath to hold it in place. The other side is just starting to come loose as well.
Measurements: this is hard to measure! It definitely fits large. It's approximately 6" tall; and about a 22" interior circumference (measured at the grosgrain ribbon inside). There is no frame to this hat, though, so measurements might be off slightly. It would have fit on the large hair styles of the 60s, to be sure!
I'm happy to answer questions, provide more photos, and combine shipping on items. Thanks for visiting!
