Black Anodized 6061-T6 aluminum DuraClick EDC pen in grey dyed and stabilized buy spalted maple

This durable, light weight, everyday carry click pen will be sure to fit your everyday life and last for years and years. Crafted from black anodized 6061-T6 aluminum, the pens tactical designed knurling allows for a solid grip and makes this pen a pleasure to write with. The click mechanism is an all metal, Schmidt SKM-88 assembly, which is precision engineered in Germany for the ultimate in click mechanism durability. The pen clip is made from 303 Stainless Steel so it is durable and will grip thick materials. This pen uses a smooth writing Parker style refill that are readily available at most office supply stores. When replacing the refill, there is a white plastic extension on top of the refill that must be reused in order to achieve the right length. The pen barrel its made from grey dyed and stabilized spalted maple. After turning and sanding, the pen barrel is finished with a low gloss wax based finish.

Spalting creates prominent black lines and changes in texture that occur during the decaying process and are highly sought by woodworkers. Spalting is any form of wood coloration caused by fungi. Although primarily found in dead trees, spalting can also occur in living trees under stress. The wood is then impregnated with colored resin by being placed in a vacuum chamber so the resin buy will penetrate deep into the wood. After the vacuum process the wood is baked for 1 hour at low heat to cure the resin, this process colors and stabilizes the wood to give you the beautiful colors featured in this pen.
