Product code: 1985 Audubon and Peterson buy Gnome/Tom Clark/Retired Bird Watchers

FREE SHIPPING -- Stay warm and celebrate bird watching with Tom Clark's Audubon & Peterson. Although some folks bird watch all year (the birds really don't mind!), I'll participate here next to the roaring fire!

Artist Clark created this bird watching tribute in 1985, placing Audubon & Peterson in a tree to get the first look. Ours is #99 from model #1114. Cairn Studios released Audubon & Peterson on January 1, 1987, and after spotting many rare species, the duo retired March 31, 1994.

Clark commented, "Like the famous ornithologists for whom they are named, these two Wood spirits are buy anxiously awaiting the arrival of the first Carolina chickadee of the spring. Peterson is giving an expert bird call and Audubon is going to use his binoculars for close observation. But even the best bird watchers can't get up soon enough to catch the early bird! The chickadee, unknown to them, has already arrived and is enjoying the bird seed right behind them. Their Norwegian coin depicts a small bird."

Each of Dr. Clark's works is highly detailed and made of either resin or bronze. With irresistible expressions, each gnome is unique. Dr. Clark, a former theology professor at prestigious Davidson College, imbued every creation with his personal philosophy that "the universe is basically friendly". His Gnomes and Wood Spirits "show a dignity that comes from a life of worth", and he felt that his creations were successful if they make you smile! Now that Dr. Clark has passed, we can best remember him through his special sculptures like Audubon & Peterson.

Measuring 9.75" high by 6" in diameter, our gnomes are in excellent condition. Audubon has a tiny white dot on the bottom of his shirt (photo #2). Although we did a light cleaning, a buyer may want to do a deeper cleaning (some white residue), particularly in the crevices on the base (photos #6 and #7).

Note: Audubon and Peterson will come to you by ground, so they won't miss any rare birds on the way!

So brave the cold if you must and exercise a little patience, or let Audubon and Peterson do the birdwatching. Winter birdwatching can be a rewarding experience. Birds don't hibernate, and they remain active even in the coldest parts of the year.
