Product code: Vintage buy Sterling Silver Green Man Ring

This simply fabulous **Green Man sterling silver (hallmarked '925') ring is by well-known Celtic/'New Age' designer Peter Stone. It is a vintage piece from around 2000 but has never been worn (tried on only) and is therefore in pristine condition. The detail on this ring is superb, with special attention paid to the face which is clear and delicate and shows the famous foliage sprouting out as often depicted in **Green Man images from folklore across the globe. The open work/'cut out' design is simply lovely and, due to the delightful foliage and scrolls, gives it an almost Art Nouveau feel.

The ring is a size UK N (US buy 6.75)* and weighs a quite substantial and chunky 6 g. It is hallmarked '925' inside the band to show its solid sterling silver content.

This is a gorgeous and unusual designer ring which depicts an image that is timeless, mysterious and simply a treasure to behold!

Thanks for looking! :-)

*PLEASE REMEMBER that most rings can be 'sized' (up or down) to suit the individual by a professional competent jeweller - usually for a relatively low cost.

** A Green Man is a sculpture or other representation of a face surrounded by or made from leaves. Branches or vines may sprout from the mouth, nostrils, or other parts of the face and these shoots may bear flowers or fruit. Commonly used as a decorative architectural ornament, Green Men are frequently found in carvings on both secular and ecclesiastical buildings. "The Green Man" is also a popular name for English public houses and various interpretations of the name appear on inn signs, which sometimes show a full figure rather than just the head.

The Green Man motif has many variations. Found in many cultures from many ages around the world, the Green Man is often related to natural vegetative deities. It is primarily interpreted as a symbol of rebirth, representing the cycle of growth each spring. Some speculate that the mythology of the Green Man developed independently in the traditions of separate ancient cultures and evolved into the wide variety of examples found throughout history (Source = Wikipedia)
