Vintage Lot of 3 Raggedy Ann and Andy Stories, 1st Editions.

This is a Vintage Lot of 3 popular Raggedy Ann and Raggedy Andy stories, created by writer and illustrator, Johnny Gruelle. The first two were written and illustrated by him prior to his passing. The third, written by Johnny Gruelle, is illustrated by his son, Worth.

The last printed page of the third book reads, “THE GRUELLE IDEAL: It is the Gruelle Ideal that books for children should contain nothing to cause fright, suggest fear, glorify mischief, excuse malice or condone buy cruelty. That is why they are called, “BOOKS GOOD FOR CHILDREN.”

In Raggedy Ann in the Deep, Deep Woods, (1960) Raggedy Ann and Andy are curious and enthusiastic, and only capable of seeing the good and the positive potential in the world around them. Thus, in every way 'Raggedy Ann in the Deep Deep Woods' promotes solid Christian values of charity, kindliness, and faith in the decent hearts and intentions of others.

Raggedy Ann and Andy Meet the Nice, Fat Policeman (1960) tells of how one day Raggedy Ann and Andy meet a police officer who is crying. Someone has left a note on his door telling him to arrest Mr. Hooligooly -- but he doesn't know why! Andy and Ann give him courage and it turns out that an evil magician is the real criminal, who falsely accused Mr. Hooligooly. Raggedy Ann and Andy quickly discover the culprit: a magician who wants Mr. Hooligooly's magic cooking stick. It's up to Raggedy Ann and Andy to stop the greedy magician.

In Raggedy Ann and Andy In The Magic Book, the third of these books is the one illustrated by Worth Gruelle and published by Bobbs-Merrill in 1961. The story has Ann and her brother falling into a magic book where they have adventures involving several funny characters, wiener trees, and natural springs of strawberry soda, surrounded by strawberry ice cream. This book is fun, enjoyable, and a little nonsensical… perfect for young readers!

These are First Editions, as published by the Bobbs-Merrill Company in 1960 and 1961.

They are Collectible Investments for your children into their future and enjoyable, healthy, entertaining reading for today!
