Art Deco Handmade Black Japanese Silk Evening Pouch buy / Evening Bag Purse - Antique Embroidered Panel – Cocktail Evening Party Shoulder Bag

A wonderful Art Deco Oriental hand crafted black silk evening pouch bag featuring a beautiful antique Japanese hand embroidered panel of an Oriental buy lady in traditional dress holding a box amongst cherry blossom trees, beside a river with water lilies and with a waterfall behind her. The panel has been hand sewn and looks like a Chinese or Japanese painting. It is attached to the main black silk bag with fine stitching. Brown braid frames the panel to give it definition.

The silk pouch has a light coloured taupe crepe lining. The detail on the two black Bakelite plastic handles have been hand carved and feature some kind of animal, possibly a camel or buffalo as it appears to have two humps. Chinese or Japanese characters feature in the middle. Has two black corded handles so can be used as a shoulder bag.

The Japanese pouch bag is 22 cm ( 8 3/4 in) long to top of handles and 20 cm (8 in) wide. The cord handles are 64 cm (26 in) long.

The Art Deco bag is in excellent vintage condition with stitching present and intact. A short section of the brown braid is not attached – about 4.5 cm (2 in) – and could easily be stitched back. Please view photos carefully for condition.

Could also be used as a Clutch Bag as will take a make up mirror, lipstick, mobile phone and so on.

It is a beautifully made Oriental Evening Bag. The amount of work involved in creating this item is phenomenal. Dates from early part of 20th Century. The embroidered panel is most probably antique
