For sale is this stunning antique pin brooch depicting a swallow in mid flight, enamel set in Sterling silver.
Despite dating from the late Victorian era, the colours of the delicate Guilloché enamel are still so wonderfully vibrant after 130 years, with breath-taking hues buy of yellows and greens and yellows; those same colours being extremely rare to find for this particular subject.
The swallow was a popular love token amongst Victorians and a favourite of brides, symbolizing eternal love and devotion as it mates for life and always returns to the same nest year after year. The green chosen here may well have added a dash of good fortune to the bearer!

The brooch measures 64mm in length. It is marked on the reverse with 'SILVER' for Sterling silver, as it should, and has the old C clasp fastener, undeniable proof of its age.
