This lithograph, from 'Affiches Originales des Maîtres de l'Ecole de Paris' (English language edition title: ‘Art in Posters') was printed by Mourlot Frères, Paris. Mourlot's master printers were the very best in the field of fine art buy printing, and the atelier became the printer of choice for the graphic work of the preeminent artists of the mid-twentieth-century. In 1959, with the artists' authorization, Mourlot produced 'Affiches Originales des Maîtres de l'Ecole de Paris', a special edition volume illustrating 102 exhibition posters created between 1933 and 1959 by members of the School of Paris (Georges Braque, Marc Chagall, Raoul Dufy, Fernand Leger, Henri Matisse, Joan Miro and Pablo Picasso). The work, which was issued in different language editions in France, England, Germany, Italy and the United States, presented lithographic prints of the artists' original posters, scaled down to fit the format of the book.
