Vintage Wooden buy German Travelling Chess Set 12x12cm/5x5", Miniature Pegged Chess Set from DDR, Small Chess Set with Storage Drawers

This is a nice, finely crafted travelling pegged chess set from the 1970's-1980's, made in eastern Germany / former DDR. Pieces are crafted with excellent detail and made from maple wood. Although the small size the chessmen are turned with great precision. One side is left in natural color and coated with varnish, other side is painted black. Set comes with original case/chess board which is made from solid beech wood. Squares are made from natural maple and mahogany veneer inlaid on the top side (intarsia technique). The surface is coated with semi gloss varnish. There are drawers on the two opposite sides of the board where the pieces are stored. Drawers are attached to each other and open simultaneously - when you pull one of them, the other opens automatically.

Condition:
The set is in perfect condition. It seems that it has been barely used/or not used at all. Surface of the pieces is nice and shiny. No visible imperfections to the board. Please examine the images carefully as they are important part of the description.
