This is a vintage Hopi Gourd Rattle (small) from Second Mesa. Timeframe of when it was made was ca 1950s to 1960s. It is completely intact and still rattles, with a gentle sound.
This was used in a Hopi home for children's ceremonies and music, and is in used condition. I have not made any attempt to restore or clean this piece except brush-cleaning to remove dust. There is one spot on it that is slightly worn, possibly from resting on a shelf. The gourd part contains small superficial marks from being present in a home with children. Please see the photos for more clarity on the condition.
