The thousand arms goddess of compassion is a beloved symbol of the Buddha Goddess's infinite devotion to humanity, requiring mqny arms to complete her tasks of succoring humanity in need, especially responsive to those who cry out to her for support, protections, and guidance. The Guan yin has become one of the most sacred symbols of compassionate loving qualities that touch a similar spark in the human heart, blessing and giving hope and sustenance to those who revere her. The Guan yin is beloved by many millions of people from different societies and cultures, worshiping her in beautiful temples, revering her many statues, and enjoying the gardens created in her honor. The qualities of the Guan yin are reminiscent of those of Mother Mary, both representing an archetype buried deep in he human soul of profound selfless love, the epitome of a mother's love and a father's life defying commitment.. The jade of this pendant is a deep brown with red highlights, and red ocher dye emphasizing the carving incisions. I believe this carving is old, because it is very finely sculpted, the face of the goddess detailed, beautiful, and serene. In addition to the many arms, there is also a Ru yi and lotus, the two symbols often often accompany representations of the buy Guan yin, the Ru yi representing the immortal powers conferred upon her by the Buddha. To balance this charming carving, I created a long (2 inches) bail of heavy twisted sterling silver wire, which is the same height as the carving. The carving is suspended from a faceted AAA natural ruby necklace with a sterling S clasp. The necklace is unique in its design.
