Two tin chocolate egg molds, one large, one small, will add to your spring décor. When every town had its own local candy shop, fanciful chocolate shapes appeared in the store at Easter. The large three-dimensional egg mold is 8 ¼” long, 5” wide, and 5"deep when assembled. That's a lot of chocolate! The exterior has wear and discoloration; the interior still retains the polished patina that allows the release of the egg when the chocolate has cooled. There are two heavy clips that hold the mold together so the chocolate does not run out. The aged look of this egg give it a wonderful rustic appearance. The small egg (3 ½” x 2 ½” x 1 ½” deep) is a half mold: the finished chocolate was intended to have a flat side. It has a center band for decoration—imagine some piped icing flowers, or a child's name there! It has retained its exterior shine with a bit of discoloration inside. The larger egg appears older, and may date from the 1920s-60s. The little half egg seems more recent, but we have seen the shape listed as 1930s. They were found together in a collector's stash. When the large one is opened, you have two halves for display (three eggs altogether!) and the silver interiors will make a unique spring decoration on your shelf or table!
**Because of the age of the molds, we recommend they be used for decorative purposes only. buy
