October 3, 1182 died 1226.
His family was wealthy but he decided to take a different route and live a poverty life serving the community.
It is known to all, one day while he was in training for battle he heard a message from above to re-build the churches.
He wanted his life to mirror Jesus Christ which was over 1,000 years before. He is known for the patron Saint of animals.
He was an Italian Catholic friar, deacon and preacher.
He founded the men's Order of Friars Minor, the women's Order of Saint Clare, the Third Order of Saint Francis and the Custody of the Holy Land
