Iceland - Diamond Beach buy at Jökulsárlón bay.

Diamond Beach, black sand at the mouth of Jökulsárlón bay. Icebergs from the Sólheimajökull glacier float down the estuary, heading out to sea; some are brought back onto the beach by the tide and settle on the black sand like diamonds. This buy morning the fog was in, the waves were strong enough to bring a lot of the icebergs onto the beach. The reflections of the black sand and the white fog in the ice creates one of the most unusual natural sights in Iceland. Pieces of ice are scattered everywhere, some the size of a plate, others larger than me, reaching up to 10 feet.

The land of glaciers, icebergs, and volcanos. Iceland is a world of wonders. This series is of the southern coast from the Snæfellsjökull Peninsula, in the west to the Sólheimajökull glacier, Jökulsárlón bay and the Diamond Beach with its black sand and Diamond icebergs. When I was there the fog never quite lifted but it created a magical world of softened shapes and subtle drama .
