In the 1950s, the American company Henry B. Sandler of New York City produced a series of portraits of Oriental figures. These were lithographs, and they were made to appear as if the portraits were watercolors on rice paper. Each one provided a delicate and refined portrait of historical Oriental figures, and the various Chinese "letters" and signature blocks might give you information about who, where, or when. The lithographs were then framed by the Intercraft Industries Corp. of Chicago, Illinois. The wood frame measures about 13 7/8" by 7 7/8" by 1 1/8" deep, and the frame was enhanced with a luminous and reflective label strip applied to the perimeter, and the lithograph is under glass. On this particular piece, you can see in the upper right corner that the label strip was applied in a misaligned way. I did not remove the backing and deconstruct the piece to see if there is any more information about the artist, subject, or period. Nice piece in good condition.
