Product code: Lowland Tapir buy Calf-The 1:20 Tapirs

The South American tapir (Tapirus terrestris), buy also commonly called the Brazilian tapir (from the Tupi tapi'ira), the maned tapir, the lowland tapir, in Portuguese anta, and in mixed Quechua and spanish sachavaca (litteraly "bushcow"), is one of the five species in the tapir family. It is distinguishable from other tapir species by its low, erect crest running from the crown down the back of the neck. It is the largest surviving native terrestrial mammal in the Amazon.

The lowland tapir can attain a body length of 1.8 to 2.5 m (5.9 to 8.2 ft) with a 5 to 10 cm (2.0 to 3.9 in) short stubby tail and an average weight around 225 kg (496 lb). Adult stands somewhere between 77 to 108 cm (30 to 43 in) at the shoulder. Adult lowland tapirs are grey in color, while baby lowland tapirs have a beautiful black and white striped coat, a trait shared in all species of baby tapirs. They can be found near water in the Amazon Rainforest and River Basin in South America, east of the Andes. Its geographic range stretches from Venezuela, Colombia, and the Guianas in the north to Brazil, Argentina, and Paraguay in the south, to Bolivia, Peru, and Ecuador in the West. They are excellent swimmers and divers, but also moves quickly on land, even over rugged, mountainous terrain.

The lowland tapir is a herbivore. Using its mobile nose, it feeds on leaves, buds, shoots, and small branches it tears from trees, fruit, grasses, and aquatic plants. This is known because the diet is studied through observation of browsing, analysis of feces, and studying stomach contents.

The 1:20 Tapirs Series consists of 5 different finely sculted and painted figurines depicting 4 of the 5 recognised species of the tapir family. All pieces in this series are set at 1:20 scale.

Each original work piece is sculptured in clay. Replicas are casted in resin, prepped, painted with acrilic and sealed with Krylon finish. All my products are 100% handmade in Canada by me. I strive to depict the most realistic animals and show their physical and spiritural features in finest details.

Because of the inevitable damage to the molds during casting, all my products are limited edition. Due to the fact that every piece of my work is handmade in every stage, and some stages like paining and sealing has certain requirements on the weather, a process time of 1-2 weeks is estimated but variable due to conditions like temperature and humidity. I try to make my products excel in every detail. If more accurate estimation of precess time is needed or in case of urgent order, please contact me in advance. For bulk buy (more than 10 pieces at a time), please also contact me in advance for better estimation of process time.

Please note that due to screen setting and the mere fact that each piece is hand-painted,slight color difference between the product and the pictures may exist and is not accepted as a defect.

In the case of damage during shipping, I will accept exchanges. But it is stongly adviced that you fix it yourself to avoid multiple shipppings, since such damages are minor and easy to fix with super/instant glue.
