This beautiful wheel thrown bottle will make the perfect addition to anyone's buy pottery collection.
The pottery is thrown on the potters wheel, and then a white burnishing slip is painted on. This helps give the surface a clean bright white surface. The pots are then bisque fired. After the bisque firing the pottery is loaded into the pit and surrounded by organic combustibles.( sawdust, seaweed, copper wire, salt) the pit is then topped with branches and lit on fire. Once the fire burns out the pots can be unloaded. Usually the next day. There is no glaze on these pots so no 2 are ever the same. They are colored by whatever is burning around them in the pit.
Pit firing is a beautiful and ancient way of firing pottery , however they are strictly ornamental and should not be used to store or hold liquids.
