Italian Murano Glass Duck, Elio Raffaeli Glass Duck Sculpture,Elio Glass Sculpture,Vintage Murano Glass Sculpture,Raffaeli Glass Paperweight

This listing is for an adorable vintage Murano blown glass duck sculpture or paperweight. I believe this is an early sculptural work by the Venetian/Murano master glass artist, Elio Raffaeli, most likely from the 1960's to the 1970's. The whimsical sculpture is that of a baby duckling with inset eyes and a chubby little body. The sculpture or paperweight weighs 1 pound 11 ounces and measures approximately 6 inches from beak to tail and stands approximately 5 inches tall. It has Elio's hand written signature on the bottom (you can tell this is an earlier work when he just signed his first name). The sculpture is in very good used vintage condition consistent with age and use. It has just one minor surface scratch on the body (see close up photo) and on the bottom, but no cracks or chips. This is a beautiful little glass piece to add to your Murano art glass collection!

Elio Raffaeli was buy born in Venice, Italy on October 14, 1936, and grew up on the island of Murano. At the young age of fifteen, he went to work in the Seguso-Dalla Venezia furnace, where he met his first Master, Piero Scaramal, who taught him the secrets of the magical art of glass. He worked with Scaramal for seven years, developing into a skilled glassmaster. Later in 1966, he was hired by Briati where he officially became a Maestro. It was here, where he met the renowned artist, Flavio Poli, who would have a lasting impact on his artistry. Next Raffaeli went to work with Livio Seguso, one of the great 20th century sculptors, where he forged a working relationship and friendship with Roberto Cammozzo. It was with Cammozzo that he founded Ars Murano in 1982 and, in a short time, burst onto the scene with his sculptures, which were soon sold around the world. Now a fully mature and established artist, he signs every piece he makes with his own hands.
