Welcome to my world of fantasy This is the from my new collection.
buy Welcome to my world of fantasy! This is the from my new collection "Lost Toys from the Attic". Please meet "Gentleman Ghost"
These treasures were found a long time ago...... in a house in Massachusetts...... in an attic..... at an Estate sale..... made of local clay..... falling apart. I closed the box where they were wrapped in tissue. Took them home, put them on a shelf and forgot about them.
I was cleaning my studio and found their little box! When I opened it the little dolls were oh so gone, almost! Enough remained for me to get a picture. And then, under the tissue, I found THE NOTE! THE NOTE said "Please take care of my dollys if you find them. My Mommy didn't like them when I made them. They will love you" signed Edith 1862. I then realized these treasures were given to me that day for my safe keeping. And to share them with you!
As with the Original Dollys, their faces are made from hand-sculpted clay, aged and primmed cotton fabrics (vintage), and trimmed with antique buttons, ribbons, lace and other trinkets. They were originally filled with sawdust,(which helped with their demise!). I have filled mine with sand and natural cotton and added armatured arms for poseability. They smell like cinnamon?! The fabric is coated with many layers of paint to get the almost-oilcloth-feel and is fairly stiff. With the sand they stand on their own and weigh almost 1 lb.!
I have also added Swarovski crystals and other clay items. Their little eyes are hand-painted glass. They stand 7" tall. And they hold whatever treasure they want! Each doll is handmade and a one-of-a-kind. There will be more like it but never exact!
"Gentleman Ghost" is the sweetest ghost ever! He never wants to scare, only share. His love. He wears vintage ribbon, rick rack and seam binding, with little antique glass buttons down the front of his less-than-scary skull outfit. Swarovski crystals are scattered across his face as echos of his scars. His glass eyes are almost red! He tries to be scary with his tule cape. Boo!
Each doll comes with their own story tag and numbered. They travel inside their own special box carefully packed.
It is YOUR JOB to love them! THANK YOU!!!
