Because the Huichol buy language is non-written, these story boards are used to express the beauty and wisdom of the ancient Huichol cultural tradition. Huichol artists can be thought of as modern day scribes.
This new yarn painting is a very beautiful, authentic and original Huichol art piece from the Sierras of Jalisco. The figure represents a different meaning and experience which they had after the Peyote ritual (a few Peyotes are shown). The yarn (different colored yarn strings) is placed on a wood canvas which uses natural Bees Wax to hold the yarn. It takes a lot of work and time to create such a beautiful, mystical and spiritual piece of art .
