One of our original designs, the majority of the bronze casting process for the Human II is done by us here at our Santa buy Fe studio, including the design, sculpting, mold-making, wax pouring and dressing, welding, bronze chasing and patina.

We originally hand-sculpted this Talisman in clay. After casting, we meticulously hand-finish each Talisman and torch apply a unique patina coloration. The combination of heat and layering creates subtle to striking variations in color, value and pattern that cannot be exactly replicated. As the Talismans are all handmade, no two are identical. Care and feeding for your bronze talisman: Enjoy your talisman in the way that most delights you. Bronze has been revered as a wonderfully durable material for sculpture for over 2500 years. One of the treasured qualities of bronze is that it responds to its environment. Its patina coloration can mature beautifully with time.

Your talisman either has a light coat of wax or a mist of lacquer followed by wax to help preserve the vibrancy of the patina. Handling your talisman frequently may subtly shift its patina, giving it an even more personal quality. If you prefer to maintain your talisman's original coloration, you can occasionally give it a very light coat of any clear paste wax, and buff to a sheen with a soft cloth.

Note: Although this is a perfect gift for the young at heart, as you would imagine, this sculpture is not intended as a toy for very young children as it could potentially pose a choking hazard.

Colors look different under various lighting scenarios and on different computer monitors or cell phone screens. While we strive to represent the colors as accurately as possible, due to display screen color variation, there may be slight shifts. Most of the images you see have been photographed inside an illuminated photo light box. With this lighting approach there is lighting from the top and all sides to show details that might otherwise be obscured in shadow. With all these lights, the upper surface of the sculpture can get a bit washed out in the image, so we often include a top view so you can accurately see the patina coloration in this area.
