Product code: 2 Vintage Schering Labs Collectible William Procter Jr Pharmacists RX Giveaways Includes Etched Drinking Glass And Metal buy Mortar & Pestle Set

This is a vintage set of two Schering Labs collectible pharmacists advertising souvenirs honoring the life of William Procter Jr.. The sets were given away to pharmacies that purchased bundle deals from Schering. William Procter Jr. was an American pharmacist who graduated from the Philadelphia College of Pharmacy in 1837 and is known for his role in establishing the American Pharmacists Association and his work as the author of the first pharmacy textbook published in America. The set includes a clear rocks/old fashioned drinking glass with an etched design and an embossed heavy bronze colored metal mortar and pestle set. Both pieces feature a picture of Procter sitting in a chair surrounded by apothecary equipment with outlines of the United States buy and a school building in the background. "William Procter Jr. 1817-1874" and "Secundum artem" are spelled out above and below the picture and "RX" is on the reverse side. The pestle is stamped with the name of the drug "Coricidin" on the end. The glass tumbler measures approximately 3 3/8" tall and 3 1/2" in diameter and is in fair vintage condition with heavy scratches, scuffs, paint loss, rough edges and tiny chips on the top rim of the glass. The mortar measures 4 3/4" tall with a top opening that measures 4 3/4" in diameter and a base that measures 3 1/2" in diameter and the pestle measures 6" long. Both pieces are in good vintage condition with wear typical for their age including scratches, scuffs, dings, pitting, tarnish, chips and paint loss. Please see my other listings for additional vintage Schering Labs mortars and pestle sets.
