This is a Native American design crafted for the southwestern tourist trade sometime in the early 1970s.
The design incorporates a traditional Navajo aesthetic, with long dangling Eagle feathers, stamp work and a perfect cabochon of bright blue turquoise.
The turquoise is quite special, it is from the Sleeping Beauty mine in Globe, Arizona. The mine closed in 2015 and as buy a result there is limited availability of this stunning turquoise. Today, it is highly sought after given its remarkable color and the rarity of available stones.
This beautiful blue stone is highlighted by Navajo stamp work. This particular stamp work represents the sunrise. It is the perfect accent to this design adding not only an interesting sentiment but providing a consummate Navajo design element.
The Eagle feathers which complete this truly native design also hold some unique symbolism. Navajo people use eagle feathers to celebrate an accomplishment such as graduation, to protect themselves from harm and to pray.

The Sleeping Beauty mine is seven miles outside Globe, AZ. Sleeping Beauty turquoise is noted for its solid, light blue color with no matrix or a black matrix. The host rock is granite. Sleeping Beauty turquoise is the favorite of Zuni Pueblo lapidaries and Navajo silversmiths for the purity its bright blue color. This mine was one of the largest in North America, now closed the stones continue to be prized by jewelers worldwide.
