Laomedon was the husband of the daughter of the river god Skamandros, Strymous or Plakias, and the father of many children, such as Tithonos, Podarkis, and Hesioni.
Laomedon succeeded his father to the throne of Troy and then wanted to build large walls around the city. So he hired the gods Poseidon and Apollo, whom Zeus had punished to serve mortally. The two immortals really worked for a whole year. Homer mentions that Poseidon built the walls, while Apollo was grazing the flocks of Laomedon on Mount Idi. The mortal Aiakos was the helper of both. But as time passed, Laomedon refused to give them what he had promised them and even threatened Apollo that he would tie him up and sell him as a slave on the islands! Then the two gods became angry and Apollo sent a plague to the city, and Poseidon sent a sea monster that came out with the flood and ate people.
According to the oracle that Laomedon received at that time, the city would be redeemed from the beast if he gave it to his daughter Hisione as a meal. At that time Hercules passed through Troy with the Argonauts and promised the king to save his daughter if he gave him the horses he had received as a gift from Zeus because he helped him grab his nephew, Ganymede. Laomedon promised it and the hero killed the beast by freeing his daughter, but the malicious king broke his promise again. Hercules got angry and returned after a while as army commander, captured Troy (long before the famous Trojan War) and killed Laomedon and all his sons with his arrows except Podarkis. He then gave Hesione as a wife to his friend Telamon.
Hercules or Alcaeus or Alcides were ancient mythical heroes, regarded as the greatest of the Greek heroes. He was born in Thebes and was the son of Zeus and Alcmene When Hercules was born, Hera, Zeus' wife, who was jealous of him for his infidelities, sent two snakes to his cradle, but the infant strangled them. Hercules' adoptive father, Amphitryonas, who was raised to teach him the art of the sailor, taught him the art of armor, Alykus the fight, Evritos the bow, Centaur Chiron the Sciences, and Linus.
The myth saved by Xenophon narrates that incident, when Hercules, seated at a crossroads, saw two beautiful girls passing by. One showed him an easy way, wide and straight, that if he followed, he would enjoy life, but would do a bunch of bad deeds that would condemn him to human judgment. That was Kakia. The other daughter, Areti, showed him a difficult road, full of sharp stones and thorns, narrow and inaccessible, which would have made it difficult for him to gain the recognition of his fellow humans. So Hercules followed Virtue, preferring to suffer to go down its difficult path but to experience glory and honor with his good deeds and virtue. Heracles fights with the lion of Nemea. In return for his victory over Orchomenus, he took his wife Megara, daughter of the king of Thebes, with whom he had three (albeit more) children. Hera, however, went mad, killing his wife and children. When he realized what he was doing, he decided to go to the Delphi Oracle to find out how he could be purified. According to the ancestor, he had to serve for twelve years Eurystheus, king of the Mycenaeans, and carry out the labors that he would protect.
