Bakelite Paper Holder PPG “Autopoint” Notepad “Pittsburgh Plate Glass” Desk Memo “New Hampshire Glass” Office buy Accessory Brown Vintage

This is a vintage, brown, bakelite, advertising, desk, paper, memo-pad holder made by “Autopoint” for Pittsburgh Plate Glass Company (PPG). I believe “Autopoint” mostly made pens which are quite collectible and PPG is still in existence today. It has an angular, Art Deco design and has tested positive for “Bakelite” plastic. It measures 3 7/8 inches wide by 6 1/2 inches long by 1 1/2 inches in depth with an inside measurement for paper buy of 3x5 inches. The top advertising is recessed engraving and says PPG INDUSTRIES- 400 Interstate Highway - Portsmouth N.H. 03801 - Phone: 603-436-0001. The inside has raised embossing (not engraved) worded “Autopoint” - Chicago 45, Ill. & use Autopoint refill No. 220R. The bottom also embossed has the words AUTOPOINT - Chicago 45, Ill - Made in U.S.A. I believe this branch location of PPG glass company was bought out by NEW HAMPSHIRE GLASS in the 1970s and still located in Portsmouth NH. There are 4 tiny pads on the underside corners to prevent scratching on furniture. This vintage, advertising, stationary holder would be of interest to both “Autopoint” & PPG collectors. The condition is good with expected wear including scuffs, scratches & fingerprints, but nothing major. Please be sure before purchasing as this item is NOT returnable.
