Product code: The Great Hammer Head buy shark
The largest of the 8 or 9 species of hammer heads, this shark, like all hammer heads, has extended lateral lobes on either side of the head forming the so called 'hammer '. However, in other species the lobes may be more scalloped, wing-like or shovel shaped. Ranging from in shore reefs to depths of about 300m/ 980ft, the great hammer head hunts a variety of animals including rays & sea snakes, feeding mainly at dusk. It migrates to cooler water's at the poles during the summer months. Unlike most other buy sharks, mating often takes place near the surface. After about an 11-month gestation, young are born in the northern hemisphere.
