Gorgeous vintage sterling and turquoise enamel brooch. The "Guilloche" style of enamel work is signified by the lovely patterns within the enamel created by the iridescent streaks.
This brooch consists of a Guilloche turquoise blue/green enamel on top of quality sterling silver. There are markings on the back of an anchor (Birmingham UK), a lion passant (sterling) as well as the letter Y, which indicates buy the approximate age of the piece. There is a maker's mark, but I cannot make out the letters on this stamp.
This brooch is a wonderful part of the jewelry history. Its shield shape and ornate design with enamel detail are absolute perfection. The closure mechanism is a simple C clasp. This piece is in excellent condition, it could use a good polishing if desired.
