Vintage Modernist Designer Ruth Buol Signed buy Copper Enamel Brooch

This unique and brilliantly colored oversized Modernist pin is from an important collection of a prominent midcentury modern Connecticut architect's estate. Perhaps most exciting is that in addition to the many pieces by artists Matisse and Renoir, this collection also includes a number of creations by renown studio enamel artists of that period, which continue to be fashionable and collectible today. This particular piece, which is signed by NYC enamel artist Ruth Buol, is distinctive for its vividly colored lustrous enamel work; its carefully detailed hand painting and freeform Venetian “gumdrop” glass techniques; along with its bold size and organically detailed edging (see photos).
