Each end grain wood print is made by hand (no machines), using wood that has naturally fallen or died.
Each end grain print is unique, has character all its own, and a story to tell.


TITLE: Smokey Bear

LOCATION: New Mexico
PAPER: 80lb. Acid free. 30% post consumer recycled paper.
SIZE: 16in. x 20in.
STORY: One spring day in 1950, in the Capitan Mountains of New Mexico, an operator in one of
the fire towers spotted smoke and called the location in to the nearest ranger station. As the
crew battled to contain the blaze, they received a report of a lone bear cub seen wandering near
the fire line. The little cub had not fared as well. He took refuge in a tree that became completely
charred, escaping with his life but also badly burned paws and hind legs. News about the little
bear spread swiftly throughout New Mexico. The state game warden wrote to the chief of the
Forest Service, offering to present the cub to the agency as long as the cub would be dedicated
to a conservation and wildfire prevention publicity program. The cub was soon on his way to the
National Zoo in Washington, D.C., becoming the living symbol of Smokey Bear.

I hand carved out Smokey Bear and had to do it backwards so when I printed the image it would come out in the right
direction. I really love how the Smokey Bear image came out.

*This is a LIMITED EDITION print. Limited to 50 prints at the size of 16in. x 20in.
Each print is signed, numbered, and dated.
Each print also includes a small insert that buy has all the info for that print.

The quantity reflects how many prints are still left, and when they are gone that's it for that print.

Each print is made/printed by hand, no machines are used in the printing process.
In the wood block I hand carved Smokey Bear to create his image in the print.
Each print might have slight differences due to the natural state of the wood and how the ink lies on the wood during the printing process.
