DETAILED DESCRIPTION:
New 2018 design! Photo shows ABS red in 3", semi-gloss finish.
Before purchasing, please verify via the pictures that your lip is the same. GV Makes multiple types! If you have a Mazda Miata, year (1990-1997)(NA) with a Garage Vary (GV) Lip installed - This will fit in the gap between your GV Lip and the bumper, and allow you to add a 2.5 or 3” brake duct on each side of the bumper.
MATERIAL AND FINISH
This duct is created from either an industry standard, reliable ABS Plastic, or an environmentally friendly, biodegradable polymer using newly developed technology. Fused Deposition Modelling allows your product to be created quickly and in a variety of colors.
Brake ducts will be either made with Polylactic Acid Polymer or ABS Plastic based on colors selected.
MATERIAL: ABS PLASTIC
Thanks to our customers, we now can offer ABS Plastic which has shown itself time and time again in the automotive industry as a durable, heat resistant plastic. The default option is now black ABS Plastic with a semi-gloss finish where the duct is visible from the front of the car.
The backside will have a glossy finish but will only be visible when looking under the car or behind the bumper. This is a coating which dramatically strengthens the duct.
MATERIAL: PLA PLASTIC
Note: when compared to ABS, PLA Polymer has a much shorter lifespan and is less heat resistant. I suggest you only order this plastic if you are environmentally conscious or need that specific color quickly (I have the material in stock). The entire part will be in the finish you specify if you order PLA. If you have had heat related issues with our ducts using this type of plastic, please message me and I will ensure you are happy with your duct.
KIT CONTAINS (in the box):
This kit contains the “in the box” contents below. To complete a brake cooler installation, you will need [2.5” or 3" brake ducting] and [adapters for your brake rotors] to connect a brake cooling system (see photo 2 for an example setup of this system using our Brake Duct adapters)
►Driver side brake duct adapter
►Passenger side brake duct adapter
►Easy mount kit with 2 different pairs of mounts + 8 screws
►12 stainless steel screws to secure the ducts to your lip & bumper (OPTIONAL - included anyway)
►3 Zip-ties
ASSEMBLY: (You will need a phillips screwdriver)
(A) Assembly is easier if you remove the wheel and jack the car off the ground, and safely place jack stands to hold the car up securely. Look at the gap from inside the fender. Going in from the rear side of the front bumper, Grab the brake duct, and insert it into the gap. It is easier to slide in from the back if you insert the thinner portion far inward, then slide the other side forward and inward.
(B) Go to the front of the car and ensure that the slim shorter side is towards the inside of the car. Line up the duct such that it fits snug inside the gap. for the classic mounting option. You may need an angle screwdriver, mounting is a tight fit. Screw the duct onto your bumper with the screws, making sure to allow the screws to thread into the plastic lip and bumper. If there is no plastic to thread into, try readjusting the duct positioning so that the screw holes line up to thread in.
(C) Easy mount kit: Follow buy included instructions. Please contact me if you have any issues!
(D) Carefully slide the brake tubing (Sold Separately) over the rear of the duct, from inside the wheel well. Once you pull the tubing over, use a hose clamp (sold separately - don't overtighten) or the zip-tie to secure the tubing over the duct. You can drill small holes into the inside engine compartment cover and secure tubing to run along it. I personally found a spot to route the tube to the brake rotor adapter (sold separately), please see (PICTURE 2) for more detail on where I positioned it. You can also connect a tube for any other accessory you need air-flow, just make sure the tubing length will be secure and will not rub the tire. If you are not connecting a 2.5” or 3.0" tube to this duct you can skip this step.
