All of my prints are original work, entirely conceived and created by me as fine print art. Any imagery included in the ensemble is either a personal belonging, an historical reference of a real object, or simply imagined. Each print is hand-pulled in my printshop.
Long Night is part of a multi-piece collection of still-lifes, and the portraits of the ladies to which these objects belong. There are currently 2 available, with different color variations. Please indicate which print you would like - Copper, Blue & Purple, or Green.
Chine-collé is a special technique in printmaking, in which thin, coloured paper, most often rice paper, is cut to desired shapes and painted with a very thin layer of Nori paste. It is then carefully placed on the inked plate immediately before the printing process. It differs from collage as it is then run through a printing press onto a stronger surface support, such as cotton archival paper, which must first be dampened. The pressure adheres and bonds the collé paper to the heavier print paper. The inked image is transferred to the collé, and the entire image is fused as one. I hand-ink all the rice paper used in my prints, often in rainbow roll fashion, to achieve a more varied and interesting effect.
Collagraphy is a relatively new process of intaglio printmaking developed in America during the 1930's. The plate is first incised (intaglio method), creating deep or delicate line work. Collagraphy specifically enhances this process, as the plate is also built up using a large variety of materials. The individual materials chosen grant a level of texture and tonal value that are quite distinct from more traditional printmaking methods. Substances such as carborundum, acrylic texture mediums, sandpapers, textiles, string or other fibres, cut card, leaves and grass can all be used in creating the collagraph plate. The plates are often very delicate, and only a small number of prints may be achieved before the plate deteriorates.
All prints are signed, titled and numbered in pencil. They are shipped flat, and buy protected with card backing.
