Early 20th Century, decorative, silverplate biscuit barrel made by the American Silver Plate Company. Beautiful embossed band around the opening and engraved wording on the side. The lid knob is shaped like a tree.
The American Silver Plate Company was a trade name of Simpson Hall Miller & Co. (est. 1866), a cutlery and silver hollowware manufacturer that, along with several other manufacturers, became the Connecticut based International Silver Company in 1898.
Most of the piece now has a lovely silver grey patina and there are some scratches and marks consistent with age and use. Some silver still on lid. Lid fits well.
Full height with lid on: 8" (20 cm). Without lid: 5 ¼" (13.5 cm)
Opening: 3 ¾ " D (9.5 cm)
Note: I make every effort to describe items accurately. Vintage or antique buy pieces often have imperfections that add to their character & charm. Please do not hesitate to ask questions as I want to meet expectations as best I can.
