Handthrown Pottery Bowl with Blue Green Sgraffito Chinese Folk Design, Large Shallow Dish, 9.25 x buy 3 Inches, Holds 5 Cups

This large shallow handthrown pottery bowl with sgraffito hand carved floral Chinese folk design in matte green inside and deep blue outside will add decorative appeal as functional art in any location and for any purpose whether as a living room tabletop piece or as a serving bowl for stir fry, ceramic pasta bowl or salad bowl, when hosting a dinner party or entertaining, even as an entryway key dish.

I handmade this pottery with white stoneware clay on a pottery wheel. After drying for a day or two, I trimmed it for a sturdy foot and painted it outside with 3 layers of premium blue underglaze. I then carved a Chinese floral folk design by scratching away the underglaze (known as sgraffito). Then for about a week it dried thoroughly, and I kiln bisque-fired the bowl to cone 04 (1945 degrees F) for over 24 hours. I then glaze painted it with 2 other premium glazes, satin patina green and clear celadon on the outside, applying multiple layers of each and drying between each coat. Finally l fired this stoneware bowl to cone 6 (2232 degrees F) for over 28 hours.

High temperature and slow firing results in stronger more durable pottery—might survive into infinity!
