Manufactured by Samuel Radford between 1879 and 1891, this is a delightful hand-painted over transfer Tea or Coffee set in Imari colours. The vibrant rust and deep blue pattern is still as sharp as ever and the sumptuous gilding is only slightly faded in a couple of places. This elegant fluted set with scalloped edges comprises 2 x cups, 2 saucers and 2 plates.
You will see the makers mark on the base of each item dating it to the end of the Victorian era. Considering this set is well over 100 years old, it is in remarkably good condition with no cracks, chips or crazing to the glaze. There is the odd flaw within the glaze from manufacture, which doesn't detract for one second from the beauty of this pattern. There is some discolouration to the base of one cup but this too seems to be within the glaze - please see last 3 photos.
Cup Size: 7cm tall x 7cm diameter across top.
Saucer Size: 13cm diameter
Plate Size: 22.5cm diameter
