buy 1950s French Clip-on Sunglasses with gold browline frame. Unique mid century vintage look for him or her.

These quality made clip-on sunglasses are from the late 1950s. They have a gold browline top frame that is attached to the green tinted lenses by 2 screws through the frame and lens. The tiny screws and bolts are in the shape of a 6 pointed star. At the back a thin flexible and strong wire clips on to your glasses to give you instant sunglasses.

There is a clear 'Double Or' mark between the screws of the left lens. The manufacturing process of the Doublé Or glasses dates back to the 19th century. The process begins with gold alloy, which is laminated and then cut to obtain a disc. The gold disc stamped, then stretched, is transformed into a seamless tube into which is introduced a solid cylinder of the alloy which constitutes the base metal. The whole is welded at high temperature and under high pressure, which causes the melting of the base metal in contact with the gold alloy, and causes the formation of a new homogeneous material: the gold doublé.

These clip-ons are in good condition overall. There are no scratches on the lenses and very minor signs of wear. The lenses are tinted green. There is no prescription to the lenses. You could simply click to your existing glasses and voilà you have vintage sunglasses.

Nose Bridge width: 1.5 cm / 5/8 inch
Lens Diameter - 5.5 cm x 4.2 cm / 2 1/8 inches x 1 5/8 inches
Please check measurements carefully, particularly frame width and lens size, as we do not accept returns for glasses not fitting.
