One of the most stunning—and affordable—exotic woods is African padauk. A vibrant orange to deep red color, the wood is most often used in highly decorative projects like turnings, jewelry boxes, and musical instruments. But it's also an excellent furniture wood that shapes, cuts and routs with ease. The tree is so substantial that it yields impressively sized boards that are clear and defect free. It has a unique cross grain quality is just beautiful and the finished product is one that can be used with pride.

As a world renowned artisan, I was able to form this fine writing instrument through a painstaking process that buy involved several hours and stages in order to present a finely polished work of art. Each blank was measured and drilled before inserting a brass tube. They were then trued on each end before being placed on my Rikon midi-lathe for the shaping using various chisels. When the desired shape was achieved I then took them through a multi-stage sanding process finishing with nine steps of micro-mesh, followed by a three step polishing with several coats of Cyanoacrylate resulting in a glass like finish.
