Great Find! Nice solid copy of"The Saint of the Wilderness" by Jess Carr, Commonwealth Press, C.1974....Ninth Printing 1979 Soft Cover. Special Motion Picture Commemorative Edition

"This biography of Robert Sayers Sheffey weaves the story of buy a unique man, the details of whose life entitle him to the mythical position he holds even today among the people of a part of the South, where, so many years ago, he traveled the circuits of Virginia, West Virginia, and into the fringes of other states, as an itinerant preacher. Here are documented his extraordinary gifts of exhortation, the depth of his caring about every single soul in the widespread territory he rode, on a brutally rigorous self-imposed schedule, as well as the unexplainable psyche and prophetic talents that truly earned him the title "Saint of the Wilderness". Mr. Carr's book tells in detail of this physically frail yet incredibly strong man and the demons with which he had to wrestle, his personal deprivations and sorrows and triumphs, the beauty of his love for all living things and the un-shakability of his faith and prayer petitions."

This scarce title from Commonwealth Press is 441 pages with a soft cover in very good condition--not pristine, but is substantial and clean throughout, with an un-creased, slightly aged cover--- no underlining on pages. The rear end page (back of p. 441) does have some writings/notations. It has been enclosed with a new mylar plastic cover.

The cover of this 9th printing of the 1974 biography states that the book was made into a motion picture by "Unusual Films" ("Unusual Films is the film studio of Bob Jones University. The studio was founded in 1950 with the purpose of producing professional motion pictures with an emphasis on spreading the gospel of Christ. Many of our productions have continued in active circulation decades after being released....")
