Celluloid was often used to imitate ivory or coral… in this case the ivory is painted blue inside and outside as a background to highlight intricate florals that look like daisies and mums. It is also pierced which took more time in the creation process. I love how it isn't a solid edge, but lacey with the design.

In the fashion of the period, it could have been worn singularly or stacked with others (see the last picture.) I probably would not mix it with metal, or harder plastic bangles.

Often these haven't survived time well because they need to be stored out of the sunlight and away from heat which caused warping and deterioration “sickness”. They are also light weight and fragile compared to other plastics. However, they are absolutely charming and romantic.

This piece is 15/16” wide with 2 5/8” opening; the paint on the inside is marred buy only where a price tag (I am assuming based on shape and size) was affixed; the outside blue paint seems intact – overall, it is in excellent vintage condition.

Note: Celluloid is a little undervalued on the antiques market right now... get them before they are discovered by collectors!
