Shell Jasper Stone Tower - Tall Mineral Point - buy Thousand Eye Stone

Shell jasper is really interesting. The patterns of grey and white are typically eye shaped, so it's often called 'thousand eye jasper'. It's buy actually marble with manganese. Also called seashell jasper and shell marble jasper.

This lovely stone consists of white fossil brachiopods preserved in black limestone. When these shells were buried on the ancient sea floor some of the black mud seeped into the bottom of the shells and the remaining space above was eventually filled with white crystalline calcite as the mud turned to stone. Pretty cool.
