Gulliver's Travels by Jonathan Swift. Temple Classic J.M Dent 1896. Gorgeous little leather-bound antique book buy for restoration or love.

This is a lovely edition of 'Gulliver's Travels into Several Remote Regions of the World' by Jonathan Swift published in 1896 as part of J.M Dent & Co's Temple Classics series. The book is covered in green leather decorated with the gold owl logo of this series. The book is in poor condition with leather coming away from the boards and the spine completely broken and missing. However, it is a lovely small book, all pages are intact and present so it could be restored or simply take a place on a shelf or in a collection as a little bit of history.

An absolute classic and an immediate best seller when published in 1726, Gulliver's Travels is number three on The Guardians 100 Best Stories (https://www.theguardian.com/books/2013/oct/06/100-novels-swift-gullivers-travels-mccrum) and was nominated as one of America's best-loved novels by PBS's The Great American Read. It is a story many of us remember fondly from childhood but is also one that is an eye-opener upon revisiting as an adult, given the wickedly clever satire and comic inversions used by Swift to offer telling insights into the nature of man and society. The Folio Society describe the book as "perhaps the most scathing satire on the human race ever written". It is most definitely one of our favourites.
