Guatemalan Hand Woven Textile in Red, Green, and Yellow - buy Natural Dyes

The soft, natural colors of this textile amazing. It measures 17 inches wide by 82 inches long, plus fringe.It is 100% cotton. It is a gorgeous textile that was woven on a back strap loom in the highlands of Guatemala. It could used as a table runner. It could be cut and made into stunning pillow covers. It is very beautiful. The thread was dyed using all natural dyes. The dyes come from local plants found in and around San Juan La Laguna. The textle itself was woven by an association of women called Voz de los Tz'utujiles

This textile was made on a back strap loom. A woman fits the strap of the loom around her waist and leans back to stretch it taunt. It's not an easy task. buy I have tried weaving on one several times and have come to understand the technique and physical endurance that it entails. I have so much respect for the weavers! The last picture is of some of the ladies in the cooperative that wove this beautiful textile.
