Each prickly pear seed contains approximately 5% oil. Each fruit contains approximately 250 to 300 seeds. It takes over 1 million seeds and over 36 hours of manual labor to produce one liter of oil!

This recipe has 3 ounces of prickly pear seed oil. I am only explaining this because I want people to know there isn't just enough in it to put it on the label. I want to get what I pay for and so should you!

Prickly pear seed oil has the highest vitamin E content of any plant based source. It has 150% more vitamin E oil than argan oil. Vitamin E is a potent antioxidant that helps protect against free radicals that prematurely ages the skin. Vitamin E aids in healing scar tissue, healing wounds, soothing inflammation, stimulating cell growth and reducing hyperpigmentation.

It would start every October and last at least through March. Every winter that I can remember my hands would crack, split and bleed. I have tried everything from oils to salves to expensive lotions and creams. Years ago I had reached into my pocket to grab something and I had blood all over the front of my white coat. A couple of years ago I started making my own lotions to put only the best ingredients in hoping this would be the answer. I will admit this did help some but it wasn't an instant fix.
