This is a group of 6 pieces of 100% cotton barkcloth. As follows:
Yellow - 2 @ 68” x 26”. 1 @ 42” x 16”.
Blue - 2 @ 68” x 26”. 1 @ 39” x 15”.
This marvelous barkcloth fabric was once a pair of curtain panels. One side being the yellow, and the opposite side being the blue. I deconstructed them to leave you with large pieces of useable fabric. (The smaller pieces were the remnants from the curtain project).
They have been freshened up in the “steam cycle” of my dryer. I then serged all the raw edges to prevent any raveling, (not intended to be a finished edge) gave them all a thorough pressing with my iron and here ya go!
Ready for your creative spin! This bold and bright fabric is classic barkcloth. The oversized bamboo print is reminiscent of 1950's barkcloth which often had a tropical bent.
The blue and yellow colors blend well together with a buy sense of energy. The yellow color is a cross between mustard and gold. The blue background is a soft blue/green tending toward turquoise.
The images of bamboo are taupes, browns and cream.
This is a heavier barkcloth. It feels very substantial. Ideal for any number of home dec projects. From pillows, to chair seats to lamp shades to more pillows! Or, a second iteration of curtains! Even heavy enough for a chic tote bag.
All pieces seem to be in nice used condition. Issues to note:
The two larger blue panels each have a grayish smudge. Very difficult to photograph so I highlighted each with blue tape. See photos. The larger yellow panel has a small faded area. Again, highlighted with blue tape in the photo. I think this area was a manufacturing defect.
There are a few areas of small snags and pulls. I could detect no fading even though these panels once hung on a window.
Tropical beauty on a grand scale!
