If you would like to personalize the plate, use the included marker to write your text above and below the design (as shown in the sample). Then you will also use the marker for signing the plate.

The included marker is made for use on ceramics. It is not a Sharpie marker or other type of craft marker. It uses a special type of ink made for use on ceramics. It requires baking in your home oven to set the ink and make the signatures permanent. Instructions are included for using the ceramic marker as well as how to bake the plate once it has been signed. I do not recommend you use any other type of marker for signing the plate. The included ceramic marker contains no toxic ingredients. Once dried and heat-set (in your oven), the durable,high-gloss finish is permanent. These markers are not recommended for use on surfaces that come in contact with food. They are for display use only.

*Marker Recommendation: I RECOMMEND PURCHASING AT LEAST 2 MARKERS AS A buy PRECAUTION... Should the marker get damaged during signing (should someone break it) or if the cap of the marker is left off allowing the ink to dry and clog the tip, it is good to have a backup marker. I recommend that someone supervise the signing of the plate to help others with using the marker and also if mistakes are made while signing. Mistakes are easily cleaned up with a wet cotton swab.
