Acquired from an estate sale here in France is this lovely pale blue and cream pitcher.
It is bisque ware that has been glazed with matt glaze on the outside and glossy glaze on the inside. Stamped on the bottom is Abbaye de la Reau. We have found one abbey in the Vienne with that name but no other information on the products they make.
This pitcher has a primitive feel to it as it has been hand made and does not have the "pefect" shape.
Can hold buy 700 ml (23.6 fl.oz)
Great as a drinks pitcher or when not used, as a utensil holder in your country kitchen.
Condition: "crudely" made and glazed, looks like it has chips on the bottom but that it is how it is made. The hairline on the bottom has no affect on use, we have tested it many times. Has crazing on the inside.
Measures approx:
6.8" / 17.3 cm tall
