Look at the detail on this fantastic old metal radiator or vent cover. Made of solid metal, this grate has developed a lovely patina. The metal is in great condition, with no repairs, no welds, and no problems. The two louvers on the back open and close (one louver is missing), and the tip of the sliding lever broke off a long time ago but the lever can still be moved to open and close the louvers. Some of the paint is flaking, and there is superficial rust and some paint discoloration. The 4 mounting screws appear original. I like how the panel looks a lot like Spanish architecture, with stylized scrolls. This is probably from the 1890 to 1920 period. Imagine this as a bathroom medicine cabinet door, or imagine this with a candle lit behind - wow! Make a shadow box and use this as a spooky Halloween prop. Or just mount this on a wall and admire the texture and contrasting details!
It measures 13 3/8" by about 10 3/8" and about 2 3/8" deep. If you intend to use this as a vent grate, you'll need an opening about 11 3/4" by 8 3/4". It weighs a hefty 7 1/2 pounds.
