The Story behind Bujo Nepal's Hemp Products:

100% Organic Sustainable Wild Hemp

In the far western forests of Nepal, hemp grows in its natural environment. Every four months, hemp is harvested sustainably by the indigenous community members. This work provides steady income while helping them become environmental stewards. Wasting nothing, seeds are used for cooking oil and the stems are kept for fiber.

Collected stems are placed in a dirt hole. When ready, the bark is separated from the stem.
The threads get weaved using a back-strap loom. Each strip of fabric produced ranges from 6- 24 inches wide, depending on the weaver's reach.
The fabric is then boiled in ash water for few hours, after which beaten with a flat wooden stick, to soften the fabric and sun dried.
The fabric is then brought to our workshop in Kathmandu, Nepal.

The craftsmanship behind our products stem from values which revolve around our ethical relationship with the indigeneous community members and a focused commitment to sustainability.

Thank you for becoming part of our journey!
Our products might have slight variations in weaving or colors, please regard these as characteristic of our handcrafted, unique products.
