The Triangle and the striker are forged from round mild steel. First the material is heated to a bright buy orange heat in a traditional coal burning forge, then bought to the anvil where the ends are drawn out to length and the loops and scrolls are hammered to shape.
A finish of beeswax is applied to the surface of the steel while at a high heat. This provides a lasting satin like patina that is very pleasing to the eye.
As with all hand forged work the sizes are approximate.
The triangle gong from top to bottom - 250 mm
The mounting bracket is 300mm
The striker is 230mm long
The total weight is about 1kg.
