A lovely vintage wine pitcher / jug with a pewter lid, a great hand crafted salt glaze stoneware piece, made in cooperation by the iconic German Goebel and Merkelbach factories circa 1986-1988. This 1,5 litre jug with olive green and shiny cobalt blue glazing has a geometric and stylized leaf pattern and is topped with a hinged pewter lid and would presumably have been used for wine. Collectible German salt glaze pottery of great level of craftsmanship and quality, for which Goebel and Merkelbach are known worldwide, with pieces residing in many museums and collections.
