Vintage French set of three lithographs They were re-printed by Pyrénées.
Vintage French set of three lithographs. They were re-printed by Pyrénées Magazine in France from the original lithographs by "Day & Haghe lithographers to the Queen".
The three images are all set with the Pyrénées of France.
Photos 2, 3 & 4 are of the Town and Bishopric of St.Lizier in the South West of France in the department of the Ariège.
Photos 5, 6, 7 & 8 are of the Chateau of Pau in the South West of France in the Pyrénées Oriental department. It is marked 'The birthplace of King Henry IV.
Photos 9 & 10 are somewhat of a mystery, there isn't an indication of where in the Pyrénées. It is a scene set in a valley village with a river running through it, people about their business.
In the bottom left hand corner of each picture is printed Wm Olivier Del - J.C. Bourne Lith. On further investigation this is John Cooke Bourne (1814-1896) Who was buy a British artist, engraver and lithographer. He was best known for his lithographs on certain British railway constructions.
These lithographs were originally printed in London 1842, as stated at the bottom centre of the pictures.
The lithographs are on good quality paper, there are some signs of age but there aren't any stains.
